Kane breaks the Bundesliga record for goals in a calendar year
The England captain’s hat-trick at the Allianz took him past a mark that had stood for four decades.

Harry Kane needed forty minutes to write himself into the record books. His hat-trick in a 5–0 win took him to forty-one league goals in the calendar year, one clear of a mark that had stood since 1983.
The mathematics of his season are almost boring now: chances taken at a rate that defies regression, penalties never missed, and a team that creates enough for two elite strikers.
The record itself may matter less than what it signals. Bayern’s squad is built to sustain four competitions, and Kane’s availability record has been as valuable as his goals.
Asked about the milestone, he was typically flat. “Records are nice. Trophies are better. We are in a good place, but October means nothing in May.”
